Why did my payment fail?
1. Double-Check Your Payment Information:
- Card Number: Make absolutely sure you’ve entered your credit card or debit card number correctly. Even a single digit mistake will cause the payment to fail.
- Expiration Date: Verify the expiration date is correct and that your card is still valid.
- CVV/CVC Code: This is the 3 or 4 digit security code on the back (or front) of your card. Ensure you’ve entered it accurately.
- Billing Address: The billing address you enter must exactly match the address associated with your credit card account. Small differences can cause declines.
2. Insufficient Funds or Credit Limit:
- Check your balance: Make sure you have enough funds in your bank account or available credit on your credit card to cover the purchase amount.
- Consider pending transactions: Sometimes, pending transactions can reduce your available balance.
3. Card Type and Acceptance:
- Is your card type accepted? We accept (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, etc.) at the checkout. Make sure you are using an accepted card type.
- International Transactions: If you are ordering from a shop in a different country, your bank might be blocking international transactions as a security measure. You may need to contact your bank to authorize international purchases or let them know you are making this purchase.
4. Browser and Technical Issues:
- Try a different browser: Sometimes browser compatibility issues can cause payment problems. Try completing the purchase using a different web browser (like Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge).
- Clear your browser cache and cookies: Old cached data can sometimes interfere with payment processing. Clear your browser’s cache and cookies and then try again.
- Disable browser extensions: Some browser extensions, especially ad blockers or privacy extensions, can sometimes interfere with payment gateways. Try temporarily disabling them and see if that helps.
- Check your internet connection: A weak or unstable internet connection can interrupt the payment process. Ensure you have a stable connection.
5. Security Measures and Fraud Prevention:
- Bank Security Flags: Your bank’s fraud detection system might be flagging the transaction as suspicious, especially if it’s a new online shop you haven’t used before, or if the purchase amount is unusually high.
- 3D Secure Verification (e.g., Verified by Visa, Mastercard SecureCode): Many online shops use extra security layers like 3D Secure. If you are prompted for this verification (often a password or a code sent to your phone), make sure you complete it correctly. If you are having trouble with this step, it might be an issue with your bank’s system.
6. Website Issues:
- Website Glitches: Occasionally, our website itself might be experiencing technical difficulties with their payment processing system. This is less common but can happen.
What to do next if it still doesn’t work:
Wait a few minutes and try again: Sometimes temporary glitches resolve themselves quickly.
Try a different payment method: If possible, try using a different credit card, debit card, or another payment option offered by the shop (like PayPal, if available).
Contact our Customer Support: This is the most important step if you’ve tried the above and your payment is still failing. We will be able to:
Check if there are any known issues with our payment system.
See if there’s a problem with your order specifically.
Offer alternative payment methods or solutions.
Provide specific guidance based on our payment gateway.
When you contact customer support, be ready to provide them with:
Your order details (if you have an order number).
The payment method you are trying to use.
Any error messages you are seeing.
The steps you’ve already tried to troubleshoot.
We hope this helps you get your payment sorted out!
